alright, so, good stuff

definately worth the $125 I paid for it on eBay

I got a brand new VDO boost guage yesterday and I was 21hg/7psi

I installed the new ECU, with BKR6E gapped at .32 (I just bought BKR7E and I will gap to .28)

I think I loosin a bit of boost out of my 710N, it's 20k old and I have been runnin it without tune for almost a year

the car picks up different then I expected (I don't know what i expected)

It kinda accelerates like normal until you get to about 3k and then there's a huge psi burst and I was kicked back for sure

my vac stayed the same but I am now spiking at 18/19psi and I am holding at 14/15psi, it feels freakin great!

I think after I replace my DV I will boost a bit higher, and I am thinkin about getin an N75 race or an MBC in the next week or two

so, I haven't got on it in first, but second, third and fourth are 1000x better getin the RPMs up and shifting from gear to gear feals amazing

I am confident that GIAC or APR would not get very far away from me at all....

on a sad note: I need to change my front driver side wheel bearing (started humming yesterday)

feel free to ask questions

sounds good. From your boost levels, i doubt your 710n is bad.

Congrats on the excellent purchase. With my APR chip, I spike to 20 and hold 15-16, so you're right... the three (GIAC, APR, SpeedTuning) are all fairly close.

^thanks man! I took a peek inside the ecu and it looked like it hadn't been chipped, but I installed it anyways and all was good

cincy...I agree that the #s are pretty good, I guess I'll just stick with my 710n...I still think I have a bit of a boost leak, since I only was hittin7psi

leifer....yeah, I am assuming that my tune is prolly pretty similar to an apr tune, it's not as spikey as GIAC and the power really starts coming later on , not as aggressive as GIAC down low...

I am super happy with the tune, I haven't had a chance to really play in traffic, but I am assuming that I will be doing alot more passing on the highway

Like chaos said in the other thread, he has seen it vary from cars. Could be the difference between stg1 and 2. You can try turning the dv around and see if you gain some boost. It has shown to hold boost a little better that way.

yeah, my tune is prolly called the value tune...lol

I am guessing I am prolly in the .01% of people who have bought a legit tune off of eBay

I may try and turn the dv around tomorrow, I had never heard of that....

its not just about PSI

i really want someone to dyno this thing. is no one interested in how much power their actually making? maybe if a few members were willing to pitch in a couple bucks, someone would be willing? i'd throw a few dollars to help (like 5 bucks cause im dirt poor right now lol) but if ~10 people could do the same thats almost the money right there. then the person with the car could pay the rest. anyone? bueller?

yeah i know it does that with piston valves but i dunno about diaphragm. worth a shot tho.

what i wanna know is why do they sell it so much cheaper on ebay? even when you mention AF, Oliver says its 175. and yet you can go on ebay and get it for 125. and AF has given him quite a lot of business.

You guys might want to read this. BTW DVR = Old forge diaphram valve.

ORIGINAL: patty at forge
We recommend that the 006 and 007 are installed with boost entering the side port. The DVR, when it was still produced, we recommended that it be installed with boost entering the bottom port.

Reasons for this: with the piston valves they make an odd sound if you do it the other way. The diaphragm will last longer with boost entering the bottom.

But they can both be installed either way really, although the opening and closing characteristics will be altered sligthly.

And we still make diaphragms.

this is how it was explained to me

With diaphragm valves, the pressure needs to come in from the side so that there isn't constant pressure beeing put on both sides of the diaphragm, like if you were to put the bottom of the valve into the turbo outlet hose. This is why the stock valve is installed like this.

With piston valves you install them with the pressure under the valve so that it helps open the valve when the pressure in the small vac line is released and becomes vacuum. If you install it so that the pressure is coming in thru the side it ends up forcing the piston inside toward one side of the valve causing it to have some drag while it is trying to open/close. It will work either way.
but i trust Patty knows what he's talking about. maybe Audi installed it that way so they have to be replaced more often lol
