Are the 12v and 30v 2.8L interchangeable?

Are the 12v and 30v 2.8L interchangeable?
Hi all,
I was considering swapping to the 2.7TT but I ruled against it, the swap itself would probably cost as much as buying a factory S4 anyway.
But my 12v feels pretty tired, and makes some wierd noises at times, but is very reliable. Out of curiosity, do the 12v and the 30v engines differ only by the extra 4 valves per cylinder? If my engine were to die, would replacing it with a 30v be worth it or would people just part the car out, or replace with another 12v. I don't know about you, but I don't want to try and rebuild a German engine, I don't think I can match the tolerancing easily and/or cheaply.
Thanks!

ya the 2 engines are about the same size. somebody had a shop swap in a 30v into their 12v but it didn't run right. i'm not sure if the auto trannies in the 30v and 12v were the same but the manual trannies were the same i believe. i don't think swapping in a 30v is a good idea though. you should just sell the 12v and buy a 30v. plus you'll get the perks of a better looking interior

Yeah, like I said, the car runs fine, it's just a little tired.
I am not worried about little items that are different between the 97 and 97.5, I am just curious, I know the 30v is a better engine. I swapped a VQ35DE into an 01 maxima before, and that was very involved but I eventually got it to run right, but it is never the same as a factory setup.
My main questions are:
Are the injectors the same?
The wiring harness the same?
Are the 5-speed trannys in any way different between the two engines?
And the BIGGEST is if the mounts are the same?
my 12v is an oil-burner (but show me one thats not at 150k lol), and eventually the rings will be so smoked it won't have any giddy-up.
I know people have done that swap, along with V8 S4's, 2.7TT's etc. I don't ever want to do a swap on a modern engine/car again that isn't a near factory fit, I had enough issues with my VQ lol.

Really? no one has a definite answer? Oh well. I am sure I can find the answers indirectly, through part searches and what-not. I shouldn't have even asked the question because when I revved up today at my buddy (joking around, he drives a 370Z lol) I had a huge puff of blue smoke come out of my tail pipe, but when I revved up again, it didn't happen, and hasn't happened since. Weird.
I love this car, since I did the shocks and new tires, the handling is like a completly different car, I didn't think it would make that much of a difference. The *** end now follows me like I'm on train-tracks!
I have Eibachs and Bilstein sport shocks, though if anyone is wondering what to buy, I would recommend this setup, though maybe get Bilstein HD's for the rear (a bit stiffer from what I hear) and sports for the front.

NM, I found a thread almost answering the questions I had. I searched, but I didn't sort by relevance the first time, so don't flame me for not searching....
but this thread https://www.audiforums.com/forum/sho...ne+swap&page=1 says this person had an 01 A4 2.8L and wanted it in his 96 b5. That 01 engine code is ATQ, so I know that it probably isn't a perfect fit.
But one question I haven't found yet though, is are all 30V 2.8's AHA codes? I know the 97.5 has the 30V, and under "1997" in the engine code identification stickey, it says "AFC".
