Default 17884 EVAP Pump CEL. Where to begin?

Good Evening, all:

Ah yes, the happy CEL light. Came on yesterday in my fiancee's '99 2.8. VAG-commed it and came up with this:

17884 - EVAP Leak Detection Pump: Insufficient Vacuum
P1476 - 35-00 - -

From what I've read, it's either the seal on the gas tank, one of the hoses going to the evaporation canister, or the evap pump going bad. Does anyone know how to start troubleshooting this problem so I don't have to tear into the car any more than necessary? Secondly.....where is the Evap pump and the evaporation canister?

Thanks!

Anyone?

I did a search though the forums, but couldn't find any specific troubleshooting technique.

I got the info from a google search and from Ross-Tech. My problem is that I don't know how to start troubleshooting it, and I don't know where the hell the evap pump even is. I assume it's under the bonnet somewhere, but.....

Thanks!
