Default 1998 A4 Quattro rear power window problem

hello. Wondering if anyone can help me here. my rear power windows are not working from the front driver's controls or the rear door controls. I have checked the relay as well (under front driver's side dash) and it's good (put in a new one), but the rear windows are still not working. Sunroof etc works fine.

Basically everything works except the rear windows (and cruise, but that's another step).

I heard somewhere that it could be a wire cluster that gets bent a lot somewhere, if someone could tell me exactly where I could find that wire cluster and color coding for rear windows so I could check it-that would be great!

Or is there something else simple I am missing here.....

Thanks in advance...

I would say window regulators but if both of them are out that might be because of another issue.

Pull your front passenger regulator and put it on one of the rear doors and see if it works. Try it on the other as well. If it then works, wherever it worked you have a bad regulator. If that doesn't work and none of the switches work, you may have a bad master switch on the driver's door. See if someone local to you has an A4 as well (someone on here maybe) and will let you plug their switch into your car. If you do, and it works, replace your master switch panel.

Question

Thanks for all the advice so far. Regulators are good. Here's what I got. On the front relay, when volt meter attached and I depress FRONT windows (both drivers and passenger), I get 12.57 volts, when I attach volt meter to REAR relay and depress the REAR windows from the front switch AND the REAR switches I only get 1.5+ volts.....so where do I go from here?

Thanks for all your help.

I have the same problem and need help diagnosing this also. The window is stuck partially opens, but has worked intermittently in past with no binding such as from a regulator problem. Does MarkMarc's information point to a bad front or rear door switch or something else?

Thanks,
Mark (not MarkyMarc)
