Default 2.4 tiptronic .A couple of problems

Hi
I think these may have been covered off before , but...................

I have just had a 1999 2.4 arrive (Purchased) and taken it for the maiden voyage.

After several minutes the oil light, warning light and ABS lights flashed and beeped. Then the rev counter stopped working .the car also appeared to stay in one gear (Auto) .

If that wasn't enough, the tiptronic wont work.I push it to the right and nothing happens at all.

The previous owner says that it was all fine before it was shippped, however it did have quite a big water blast and may have got water in places it shouldnt be.

Anyone got any advice, or want to talk about it??

Cheers

Greg

Apart from those issues, Im pleased I replaced the BMW and got the Audi, NICE cars

The rubber thing on the lever is out on the back seat. This is probably the issue as this holds the magnet I have just read about???

Sounds like its in limp mode. You'll need to check your ECU and TCU codes. Post them here when you read them.

2.4? And I'm also going with limp mode. You need to figure out what codes you have clear them and see what comes back.

Obviously not originally an American-bound Audi, but whatever engine, its still an Audi tip.

Cars in New Zealand

Anyway.I dont think its "limp mode"

The issues are:
Drives along fine for a while, and then every now and again it goes into this mode...
The dash lights (auto-PRND etc) are all lit up
The rev counter stops
It gives a little jerk and goes into either 3rd or 4th auto gear and wont move either up or down.
The ABS, oil and warning lights flash
It can get up to speed and more (not restricted)

I found this for the tiptronic which is my first bet once the weekends over and I can pick up a new magnet and holder.

My one was pretty munted up

The shift gate magnet will not cause the ABS and oil lights to come on. It only engages the manual shift mode.

Correct, theres two different faults.
The shift magnets should fix the tiptronic one, however the other is obviously a little harder to track down until I get it to someone with a code tool on Monday when everything opens up again. New Zealand basically shuts down for the weekend
