2.8 12v Mods Sites? List?
^^^ kinda beat me to it. Although the 2.7 has a 6 bolt main. They didn't take a chance.
The 2.7 motor started life as a 2.8. Then, engineers thickened the cylinder walls (hence the loss of displacement) to handle the immense amount of boost pressure. Since the heads from the 2.8 provide a higher IIRC the 2.7 guys use these. To build up a 2.8 motor, ideally you'd use 2.8 heads and cams (3.0's if you're looking to overbore) but swap in the stronger 2.7 block. They're both iron blocks so they're relatively similar. Pistons will be upgraded as well since anything over 9 psi(if boosted) is pushing them to fry. That is IF you want to upgrade a N/A 2.8(this includes the 12v since I'm not talking bout F/I necessarily) You obviously need know-how and wouldn't be posting for sites on bolt-ons and don't ask for a DIY. Yes the 2.7 started life similar to a 2.8 but the finished product is in no way the same. Something nOObs don't understand, they were totally designed for different reasons, which is why you can't just throw in a turbo because their displacements appear to be relatively close.

I'm not gonna start an argue thread here, but I was under the distinct belief that both the 2.8 and 2.7 were cast iron. The 3.0 and newer engines were aluminum. Also a few of the 2.7 guys believe its a 6 bolt. I could be wrong but when I had my 2.7 and hung out in the S forums that's what I picked up but its been a while. Unless you can link me to a particular article on the 2.7 being 4/6.
Ok, so like I said before... 2.7T is a 4 bolt main, 2.8 is 2 bolt I believe(told by an Audi tech). Both are iron block, aluminum head(3.0 is the first all alloy v6). Both 2.8 and 2.7T have cast con rods but the 2.7T has a forged crank. The standard 2.7T has smaller ports than the 2.8 and RS4 spec 2.7T. I don't know on this but my gut feeling tells me and knowing Audi, The 12v and the 30v 2.8 blocks are probably completely different. Its the same thing VW did with the 1.9TDI block, started with a 2.0 and beefed it up. You can trace the 2.7 back to the 2.8 30v but there is so much difference, there's almost no point in it. Don't want to start arguments either, its kinda worthless. Just posting what I have been told and what I believe to be true. O, and chaos, the black and red looks sick!
start with the basics....suspension(coilovers/strut tower/sway bars)/wheels/breaks
If I had a 12v I would primarily mod for looks....after I had the outside of the car looking amazing than i would start engine mods, although there arent very many options, there are a few....
custom hot air intake, with a nice heatshield from the guy over on AZ
then i woudl do exhaust...a couple high flow cats to some custom 2.5" piping to a magnaflow muffler
if you are really looking for some go....you could safely run a 50-100 shot of nitrous...
sadly there is not a s/c kit for your car....
so, my advice would be to start on the outside of the car; tint/headlights/grills/suspension/braking/wheels...and then maybe an s4 front and sides.....
as far as the euro look goes you have a jump on most of us since you have a euro trunk...
well....gl!

I don't know if im right on this but after some searching I came across the info on the 12v and 30v heads and it seems that they changed the bolt pattern between models.
thats all i have for now, thanks guys.
