i've put new valves in my bug but that was when i worked in a shop and had access to tools and help i think id just be better off buying the rebuilt or used . do you think that the car well be ok afterwards or should i try and off it ?

in that second link, look at the underside pic. the center cylinder exhaust valves are both open. from that angle its impossible to tell if they are open because of the cams or open because they are bent. definately ask the seller before buying.

the first one looks good. i dont know what "no up front core charge" means though.

that gasket kit should be good though i have heard a lot of people having bad times dealing with FCPgroton. mostly customer service issues, its hard to screw up a gasket.

what bug did you have? i just got done reassembling a '62 1.2L today for a formula vee car.

i have a '59 it only has a 1200cc , i did the springs when i worked fr a bug shop it was on a race motor but i dont remember the size ..formula vee thats like a kit car kinda rite ..like a little open wheeled racer ?

i bought the head today .. the completely rebuilt one ..it comes w/ new cams should i use those or use the used ones wasnt sure if its a good idea for new cams on one head and old on the other ?

use the cams it comes with as long as they are good. they should be identical anyway.

yea its a kit type car, just a frame a seat and an engine basically. i have that same engine in the vee. i think it was '58-65 were the same types. there certainly isnt much to those things, i had it completely apart in a few hours hah.

is that a stock pulley ? when i put a pulley kit on mine it was like nite and day ...some people said its bad for the motor but i had no problems ...

also im reading ahead in the book try to prepare myself somewhat and it says when installing heads to turn block to cyl 3 tdc and install ,so when i do that the cams should be lined up to the points inside the head then install belt ...wait 30 min turn by hand then start rite ..im just thrown off because i thought it was normally 1cyl to tdc when installing a head .my friend was saying im going to need a vag reader to clear the codes before itll start aswell is that true ?

im not exactly sure where that is under the hood, its been a while since i had a 2.8. where is that in relation to the valve covers? it looks like both of those open ports are coming from that central coolant pipe?
