Default 2.8 cold start idles at 2K

About a week ago it started idling at 2k during a cold start. Eventually it lets itself down to 1k where it used to idle. I have done some work on the vacuum and breather hoses but I'm not sure if that's the cause. Any ideas?

OK then what would cause a high idle?

Been doing some research and am going to take a look at the mass air flow sensor and/or throttle body. Still not sure why it picked 2k to start at and gradually winds down, though.

Replaced vacuum lines, cleaned out the MAF, even drove it without the MAF plugged in today and its still wobbling around 1,000-1,200 once it settles down. Any suggestions?
