I did a little searching and found a trans from ECS Tuning http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...sion/ES267017/. Seems like an amazing deal, Im sure most of you have already seen this. Is this deal too good to be true? Has anyone on here bought this trans and did you have any short/long term issues with it? Im a big fan of spending a little extra if it means doing the job right the first time. But Im also one not to pass up a great deal LOL.

It is a good price for a brand new transmission, but most people just end up buying a used one for $400-$500.

If I was in need and felt like spending a little more than the cost of a used trans then I'd certainly get that from ECS. I don't see how you could go wrong with it. If anyone in the aftermarket vw/audi world knows whats up with what - it's ECS. They always have what the customer needs.

I had a 2.8 trans and it did this when I would go from a stop in first gear.

My 2 cents, I've read all the posts on this. I have a whine in mine ONLY in first gear (manual trans), IT is the tranny, NOT the clutch. I have 270k. If you keep driving it, I'd suggest starting in 2nd, and not holding the clutch in while at a light in gear, and it might last a long time.

Either the shifter/linkage is not lined up correctly or your syncro is going bad.
