2.8 timing ? need opinions!!

Default 2.8 timing ? need opinions!!

ok here it is i have a 98 2.8 qm im getting my tax return this friday and need to do my timing im ordering the enhanced kit from blauparts.com can anyone tell me how helpfull there timing installer kit will be i figure for 40 dollars itll help a buttload and any pointers for this procedure is very much appreciated!

Unless you change your cam seals (which, due to the potential for doing more harm than good by changing if they aren't leaking), you don't need the locking bars. Index cylinder 3 at TDC and the cams won't spin on you.

k so i dont need to get the enhanced version from blauparts or just dont put the cam seals on?

I looked over both kits. The enhanced kit looks like what you want. Devil was saying that you don't need to rent the tool kit. As long as you aren't doing the cam seals and the crank seal, you wont need the cam lock bar or crank pin. Common practice is that if the seals aren't leaking you shouldn't mess with with them (other opinions vary).

Everything else in the took kit you should either have or can be improvised. The timing belt kit comes with the blau instructions, which I understand are excellent. Set aside plenty of time. Don't rush. Ask questions if you get in a jam.

thanks man thats what i kinda figured and if it isn't broke dont fix is usually what i go by i was just kinda wondering if anyone has used it and how much easier they thought it helped but im not gonna get it i have a very wide variety of tools so im not to worried about it
