Default 2000 a4 1.8t quattro somethings missing or slipping need help!!!

Hey everyone, being new to an audi and realizing that you cant really google any good information on them im bringing my questions here. My a4 has ~173,000 miles and seemed to run fine on my 30 min test drive. Now that I have purchased it "as-is" its showing its true issues. The biggest one is a miss or slip of some sort, no clue what it is, coil packs maybe? It seems to happen roughly around 2500 rpm with a medium-low to medium-high amount of throttle and mostly in 3rd and 4th gear but has happened in other gears too. Basic jist of what it does: im accelerating and then it just kind of cuts out, it also seems that the car doesnt have as much power as it did when i first purchased it(only about am month and a half ago). Now the 'miss' while usually being around the 2500 rpm mark has also happened at lower rpms, and has only happend once or twice above 3k. Ive never had a vehicle with coil packs before so im not sure if they have inconsistant misses or not, my firebird's distributor misses more at high rpm so thats my only knowledge of misses in a vehicle. Any help as to what my problem might be would be much appreciated.

replace ignition coils. probably misfiring. if your alarms flash when it slips it might be a relay that controls traction alarms.

Damn, you're off by a model year. Audi is in the middle of a recall for coil packs in a few models spanning 2001-2007
