Default 2000 A4 2.8L Misfire

Hey folks,

Today I picked up a used A4 2.8L Quattro sedan. I picked it because of the work the previous owner just did. New tie rods/ball joints, CV joints, clutch, timing belt, brakes, and tune up. I drove it 45 miles on the highway and didn't have any trouble. When I got into town and accelerated hard away from a stop and the check engine light flashed, came on and the car began to stutter under acceleration. I turned the car off at the next intersection and turned it back on and the check engine light was solid and it ran smooth the rest of the way home but stuttered again when I took it around the block with a friend.

I have to leave town in the morning so I can't get it into a shop yet. The car has 104,000 miles on it. Does this sound like a failing ignition coil, a fowled plug, or a bad ICM? It kinda freaked me out, I really love the car and don't want to take it back. I have another $2,000 set aside for repairs right now, I was figuring on having to at least do a timing belt before I found this one.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

find which cylinder(s) are misfiring. if it just one cylinder its probly a coil pack. if its multiple it could be a number of things. ICM or spark plugs are the common culprits

It was the coil pack. Now the car is running great! Thanks!
