2000 audi a4 1.8t performance issues, need help.
hello everyone, i am having a problem with my 2000 audi a4 1.8t atw engine performance and was wondering if anyone here may know anything and can help. it has a garret gt28rs turbo with 3" straight pipe, cx racing fmic, ecs tuning adjustable fuel pressure regulator with gauge and ecs boost controller at 17 psi (for now). i think its stock injectors, stock coils and new oem bosch plugs. when i drive it hesitates like a major misfire (only when i try to accelerate quick.) but if i accelerate slowly it gives little to no issues, when at idle and rev, it hesitates in the begining and when i let go of the gas it sometimes dies.... when i adjust the fpr to lower psi it runs a little better at high rpm but when i give it more psi it runs better at low rpm until i rev a lil then it dies.. there are no leaks in the intercooler or turbo. anyone in or near chicago that can help me out would be great. but advise will help also
A setup like that will not be running stock injectors. Hesitation like that can be caused by several things, throttle body, cat, fuel related.
My car currently has hesitation upon acceleration at times. Will be changing the throttle body soon.

it has a tune by unitronic but im not sure what type of tune or how old the tune is. it was tuned before i got the car and then i did a few small upgrades but was running similar before my upgrades.
there is no catalytic converters, it was tuned without them. and my throttle body is electronic

If the car has stock injectors, THIS is a problem. Also, assuming stock injectors, and a Stage 1 tune, you should be running 4bar/58psi fuel pressure, measured with the FPR open to the atmosphere (vacuum line removed from it).
You shouldn't run a GT28RS on stock injectors past maybe 8psi. Otherwise you're risking a lean condition which can be bad for the car.

GIAC PC-16 should be boosting to 17-18psi at least. Just to clarify, you mentioned there are no leaks, does that mean you performed a boost leak test?
As far as injectors go, you pick injectors based on the size of injector your tune calls for. (same with fuel pressure)
If you intend to stick with PC-16 then 310-315cc @ 2.8-3.0bar is ideal.
