2000 audi a4 abs problem
first time i had an audi. I was putting the suspension in and at the end i put the abs sensor first before i stuck the axle. When i started the car to move it the abs came on. It was not on before. When i took the axle out to see whats going on, the axle smashes about 1/4 of it so i got a new one and replaced it. When started the car and took it for a spin the abs was still on. As far as i know the light should go away by its self. Im not shure what to do. Some help would be appreciated.
I found the sensors on mine to be very sensitive to how far away from the hall effect ring they are. I have an eBay cable and VCDS lite, so I first had to mess with my right rear and then my front left to make the ABS happy. I pushed the sensors all the way in, touching the ring, and then backed them out what seemed like 3 mm. The ABS did not like that, so I pushed them in again and backed them out 1 mm. That solved my issues, YMMV.
I had nearly the same experience as catmandu with the exception that my light was off. However the ABS would kick in just before a full stop. I read elsewhere that it might be caused by the sensor not being in far enough. I found the right distance through trial and error.
