I have a 2000 audi a4 quatro 1.8t with 116kthe miles on it.
It has been a good car but has stopped accepting gas.
When I try to fill it at the gas station it fills the fuel filler neck and stops. Then I am aloud to put a little bit more in at a time until after about 1.5 gallons it just stops all together and overspills. It is almost empty and I am sure of this!
What could be going on and how do I fix it?

lol sorry.. if its not accepting gas, its prob a venting issue... maybe the pump? i dunno how you'd trouble shoot that without swapping out parts. someone else on here may have more experience. i just googled it, you're not the only one. might want to hunt around the other forums and whatnot, its been talked about before.

 

Where is the vent for the tank and how do I access it?

 

I just read about this, the charcoal canister is full of gas when its supposed to be dry for venting filtering. It can be caused from over filling or just old age. Located on the engine is your n80 purge valve, this detects pressure in the system and works in conjunction with the canister. Here is a complete write up with pictures for the DIY. I tried the eval delete and it still wont take any gas I can fill the fuel neck and that's it. It just fills up and over flows and drains extremely slowly!
