Over the past week or so I've experienced louder (harmonic) cabin noise, particularly at these speeds.

I passed it off as a leak in the exhaust and booked it into the garage this morning. After a cursory check with a couple of rags stuffed into the exhaust they agreed and sent me off to a muffler shop next door, saying that would be quicker than waiting for them.

The muffler shop put it up on a hoist, pressurised the exhaust and said they could not find a leak.

Obviously this is going to need to go back to the garage... but any thoughts as to cause would be appreciated???

 

Right rear bearing. If it sounds like the exhaust, but louder and from the rear, then that would be my guess. Happened to me. And most others.

 

yeah same thing to me that bearing does sound like my exhaust but louder haha

Also check the center driveshaft carrier bearing.

 

the audi dealer told me $250 installed!!!! but i did it myself for $80
