i have a 1998 audi a4 quattro 5 speed . i have rebuilt the 2.8 and done 2 timing belts and a month ago the cam chain tensioner died and bent intake valves on pass side. motor is now pulled and in the process of stripping engine bay for paint and installing a 98 aeb 1.8t .i live in owego ny and have no car friends so i do all the work by myself in my garage so any help would be great thanx guys.

Do you need a new Sub frame ? I have heard the 1.8 and 2.8 are different I was wondering if we could get a comparison pic?

 

 

i know the 1.8 uses the front supprt for the snub mount and as an intercooler pipe. not sure about the subframe yet i think it depends on trans i will let you know

 

got my polydrive tool and cam chain tensioner tool today

 

The 2.8 snub mount also plugs into the core support and there is a provision on its core to mount the IC crossover pipe.
