You learn something new every day...I did do a ohm test on airbags, they didn't go off, thanks for that little piece of info. I replaced every Audi plug with brand new ones that i CRIMPED myself, and ohmed every wire...I swapped airbags, and the code stayed on the same side...so I'm 99% sure it's the module, if it were something else, the fault would have gone to the other side, followed the problem....

I reset the codes, of course, everytime I did something. So when I rewired on plug, i reset etc... like I said, IF it were a wiring problem, or airbag problem it would have followed when I switched sides, I basically ran NEW wires, same gauge with new connectors from the drivers side rocker panel to the seat on the passenger side, and from the passenger side rocker panel to the drivers seat and teh code stayed the same....

I know, its weird right? my only guess is that its the module....

Just fyi, went to a junk yard in Denver, and pulled a module for $30, yes they only charged me $30!!!! I'll be putting it in next week after the holiday. I could just pull the light behind the dash, BUT, I'm ****, and I'm gonna figure this out!!

I'll update next week after I recode the module with my old 5 digit code after I put it in and we'll see what happens then....

I believe there is another connector somewhere between the airbag computer and the connector under the seat, I think they are located in the kick panels and they are the same type as the ones under the seat. Since you got the module for so cheap, you might as well give that a try, and if that doesnt work, I would check the wiring behind the dash, and to look for other connectors.

by rocker panel covers I meant the kick panel, I have replaced those as well already. I've been mulling this over for 2 days now. It really DOESN'T seem like the module is failing, it would have a different code on the VAG...When I tear out the center console to put the new module in, I will check all the wire....

IF it was the wiring, the fault code on drivers side should follow to the passenger side when I flipped wires/bags, but it didn't.

Right, assuming you swapped all of the wiring, all the way up to the module.

so, just an update, I haven't done SH** been splitting wood for the winter...I live at 10,600 feet, last snow is in July, 1st snow in September here in CO where I live...

I'm gonna be putting in my NEW module this next weekend, I wanted to touch base to see if anyone else gets these codes....when I UNPLUG the seat connectors for the airbag warning on BOTH sides, they both pull the dash code....meaning, if I unplug the driver's side seat airbag plug, I get the 01217 code AND the 0588 code.....if I unplug the passenger side seat airbag plug, I get the 01217 ANd the 0589 code?? Is this normal?? I got the new/used module for $30 bucks at junkyard, so it's cheap, just thought maybe sometime in the future, me writing this down will help someone else....I'm still hunting....

I looked those codes up.. Im pretty sure 01217 is for the side airbags, and the other two codes are for the front two airbags...

No that shouldnt be normal, thats pretty weird. You should only get a code for the single airbag that you disconnected, not the front airbags as well.
