Default 98 Audi a4 1.8tQ P1613!

Got the car, guy said all that it needed was a new Cat, put it in, the cat codes went away but now I got this P1613 popping up. I've been on the forums and no one that I can find really says how to fix it. I also have an airbag light but its because the seat I have has a blown airbag, I unplugged it and cleared the codes but still no luck! I need help please!

Has the ecu been replaced in the car? That code is basically saying there is an issue with a connection to the ecu.

If you have a blown air bag you are going to have a to replace the air bag module that is behind the radio below the ashtray. Once an airbag is deployed, those modules have to be replaced otherwise they will not communicate with the computer. Could be the remedy to both of your problems. Have someone with a VAG COM try and read the airbag codes. If it can't communicate with the air bag module, that could be a place to start.

if I replace the main airbag module and not the airbag or the seat module will it just trip the codes again?
