Default 99 2.8L a4

Hey all I have recently bought a 99 A4 Quattro(2.8 V6) for $600 and now I need to get it running! Looking for somewhere besides the stealerships to go and get parts...I need the cam chain for both sides and they wanted almost $3000 after parts and labor! I cant afford that and Im not sure anyone can, so, is there a place you guys all go to get your parts?

The forum sponsors are the best place to start - they're vetted and trusted. Also, the classified section here is a good place to look.

the cam chain tensioners are very expensive. just an FIY though, the S4 has the same ones. also there's a sticky on the A4 section that has a list of links to buy parts

there is always ebay as well as the salvage yard. Classifieds here is always a good place too. During a build you upgade and sell the old. Or part their car out completely. You can always go to the classified section here and ask if anyone has cam chains and tensioners. Odds are it wont be long before you get what you need

If the car is an early 99 and not a facelift model (99.5), you should have the AHA motor. I was looking through the Audi classifieds forum on VW Vortex last night and there's a pair of complete AHA heads for sale for $400.

I believe thats what I have(99.5) Its got the two tone tails...maybe you guys can clue me in on what to look for beyond that.

I do need both the tensioners and the chains. One chain is snapped entirely and I would feel better changing both at the same time instead of wondering about how sound the other is.
