99 A4 1.8TQ Bone Stock Going APR Stage 3+
Ive got a brand new Spec 6puck Stage-4 clutch and Spec billet aluminum lightweight single mass flywheel with a new friction plate on it for sale... e-mail me at FasterA4ThanUrs@gmail.com if you're interested...
yeah, mike, i read that pretty plainly from your other post: valeo ain't gonna cut it.
thanks again! and my experience with it, over the course of about 500-600mi confirms it. it'll slip.
you have any recommendations? i'm looking at DXD/Southbend and RA4 at the moment.
i'll the need flywheel as well, of course. i'm also trying to get something with headroom, that will cover more than just what i have now. as for pedal...i guess i don't mind a stiffer pedal, but i don't intend on running 1/4mi's.
seems like RA4 is cheaper, and i wonder how they have such higher ratings (hp/tq) than an equivalent DXD/SB.

Mike your advice on the products you sell and dont sell have been nothing less than great. I was referring to APR being vague with everything from the turbos to fuel injectors in the stage 3 kit.

This unit is a solid hub version of the stage 3. The hub is solid 8-rivet and the assembly is heat treated for strength and durability. It is available in a 3, 4 or 6 puck configuration. Use the 3 puck for the lightest option or the 6 puck for the smoothest engagement. The 4 puck is a good compromise for both. Street drivable in 6 puck configuration, but not street friendly due to the rigid hub. Best for drag racing, road racing, pulling, rallye and drift.
you ever run it "regular" as a street/daily driver? unfortunately i'm also stuck in a major urban area (dc metro).
mike - that clutchmasters fx200 or fx300 looks really interesting. i think you've steered me clear of the RA4, but i think you've also pointed me toward a 240mm rather than a 228mm. which seems to mean the dxd/sb isn't a great option either. lol.
thanks guys, as always, extremely helpful. more homework to do still.

1999A418T - If you have any questions about the CM products dont hesitate to ask me, your more then welcome to PM, email or even call me on the phone 7 days a week.
thanks a lot mike.
after doing some homework, i think that fx300 is where i'm leaning.
here's question though - how do you get the torque ratings posted on ringer?
cm says the fx300 is 110% holding over stock...if stock is like 150, wouldn't a 110% increase be 310, not 525? maybe i just misunderstand...
the shop actually recommended the dxd/sb stage 2 daily, which supposedly holds 280. i'm over 280 now...sometimes i don't get these guys...they are really nice but sometimes i wonder...

The CM 240mm kit holds more because the disk is slightly larger (240mm vs 228mm), which means it has more leverage. It also has 2200 lbs clamping pressure vs 1800 lbs for the 228mm A4 kit. You can find plenty of Stage 3 S4 2.7t owners running the same 240mm FX400 clutch kit, there are even vids of stage 3 S4's using that clutch while drag racing.
Not all shops are going to try and help you choose the right clutch kit vs just selling you what they want to make some money. To me customer service comes before sales.
