99 A4 2.8 quattro, consumes engine oil?

Red face 99 A4 2.8 quattro, consumes engine oil?

guys i recently bought it, and its in mint condition......i recently noticed the engine oil level keeps falling from max to min after driving for few 100 miles.....i topped it up and it fell again.......i use castrol full synthtic(cant recall the xact grade)......plz help, it has 92k miles on it.

are you seeing oil leaking or burning off anywhere ?

If it falls that quickly, you should def either see some smoke from your exhaust or drops of oil on your driveway.

Yeah, that's a lot. Check for any smoke when it starts up... both out the tailpipe (should be blueish if oil is burning, and it should smell like it) or from the engine bay, and check for wet oil around the engine bay and your driveway. If your engine bay is too dirty, you can clean the engine off and then check again in a day or two or whatever. Check your coolant to see if oil has mixed in with it (though, in my experience, usually coolant will get into the oil, but I think both ways are possible). It's also possible for oil to leak into your transmission.

Also, is the plastic piece of your dipstick in good condition? It could be measuring the wrong oil level if not.
