99 a4 secondary air injector

Default 99 a4 secondary air injector

mine whistles really badly on cold starts. is there a way i can remove it completely? supposing so, can i code the computer to forget about it so no CEL? is there a cheap way to repair mine if the above prove to be troublesome? lol

Sometimes you can fix the pump by replacing the rivets that hold the 2 halves of the casing together with long bolts.

There is a guy with a video in youtube that gives a how to on this. Can't recall exact title but you'll ons it I'm sure. He had been quotes > $1k by dealer and fixed for (I think) ~ $100 or maybe less

$100? It's literally $5 worth of bolts and nuts. Mind you it'll only work if your pump is fine internally but leaking air through the casing.

thank you, both of you. I am about to be going into service position 1 and was curious about the removal of it. But repair is fine too! suppose the pump is shot, can i remove it still?

You could but you'll have a CEL unless you get a tune that removes SAI diagnosis. There's no way around it, no 'good-enough' hack. It monitors the actual airflow put out from the pump so there's no way to fool it through purely hardware means.
