are there two types of the mesh style as well?
one with a border and another without?

if you like the rs4 stlye mesh, you can make your own rs4 badgeless grill for 15 bucks. i just modded my s4 bumper with rs4 mesh. got plenty left over, i might do the grill too.

Also,does the chrome part around the outside of the STOCK grill come off with the stock grill when I replace it?

 

yeah the stock grill is 3 pieces. the main part, the rings, and the trim. they all come out as 1 piece, and then you can seperate them after you get it off.

as for the rs4 mesh, you can buy the "real" stuff online but its expensive. but all it really is, is 3/4" expanded metal. you can buy a 24"x24" section for 15 bucks at home depot. its in the hardware section next to the sheets of aluminum and stuff. they also have 1/2" expanded metal which has smaller openings, but 3/4" is the same as the rs4. you just buy that, paint it with plasti-dip (wont chip from driving on the highway like paint will) or get it powder coated, and voila, instant rs4 mesh at a fraction of the price.
