So, great news, I figured out how to program a brand new key remote with just a valet key (and obviously the new key).
1. To program the remote functions on a new key, get in your car with the car off and the driver side window rolled down.
2. Insert the new key into the ignition and turn the electrical system on (not the engine)
3. Insert your valet key in the driver side door lock (outside the car) while sitting in the car
4. Turn the valet key towards lock and hold it there
5. While it is held towards lock, press the unlock button on your new remote for
two seconds.
6. Let go
7. Press it again for 2 seconds
8. Let go and you're all set.

I just did this on my 1999 Audi A4, and it worked, saved $130 bucks from the dealership. sickkkk

I bought my replacement key and remote (the switchblade combo) from a dealership, but since immobilizer didn't come out until 2001, it doesn't have the immobilizer function on the car...

Red face Confused

Ok! Thanks for all of your help, but I'm still a little confused.
If a key at the dealer costs $75 (cut or uncut?) and one at eBay costs ($70-$80+) and I have to get it cut (<$20), why would I want to buy it on eBay?

Look guys, I only have a valet key and I want to get a remote key (cut) for my 2000 Audi A4... what's the best way to go about it?

@wanger727
How much did you pay for the replacement key and the remote?

You need to be careful when buying the key from the dealer becasue my friend was told that only the dealer can program the key for you and they will charge you another $100 to do this. Could have just been some BS from the stealership.

Hey man,
The switchblade is actually two parts: the key was about 80 bucks, and the remote was about 120 bucks, and they didn't charge me to cut it since I bought the key there. The two keys combined were 199.50 for me, and they told me that the service center would charge another 120 to program the key for me, but fortunately, I figured out how to program the key with just a valet key. Basically, my total was about 200 bucks to get the replacement key.

Question already cut?

Hey guys!
Today I randomly found a remote key for an Audi, it's a two button key (lock, unlock + panic)...

I looked at some keys on eBay for my 2000 A4 and they all are three button (lock, unlock, trunk +panic) so I'm even wondering if the key I have will work with my car.

I wonder if this key if for older models. Any ideas?
If this one is going to work (following your instructions) is there a way to get a new blade on it and have it cut (I've seen on eBay some that are already cut being sold)

If it won't work for my car, what should I look for when buying on eBay... like they give you some codes:
Code:
315MHZ
4EO 837 22O A
FCCID : KR55WK45O22
CAN: 267 104 187 GERMANY
to see if that key will work for you, but how do I know? I only have a valet key.

Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!

I have a 99 A4, and mine is a two button like the one you described. I don't think the trunk release came out until 99.5 when they updated the cars? That's just my thoughts...As far as ebay, I paid 200 for the key and them to laser cut it at the dealership.
