AEB starter wiring?
So I was wrapping up my clutch job on my 99 1.8t AEB when I remembered I forgot the wiring on the starter among some of the other setbacks I encountered during this service.
I see a cable and a plug for the solenoid up at the top of the starter and another cable at the bottom with a wire holder thing on it. I know where the plug for the solenoid goes, and I'm pretty sure the one at the top of the starter goes at that top post, however, the wire from the bottom I forget... I know it can only be one of two places, but if you only knew of all the setbacks I had with this job, you'd understand why I need to get away from it to act rationally.
in any case, thanks in advance.

Naturally be careful with any advice you get on this, the starter is completely unfused...
This confused the hell out of me when I went to replace the starter, I figured one wire must go to the each terminal. However, the way I understood it, is that BOTH wires are positive, one runs to the alternator, the other runs to the battery (I guess the battery is connected to the alternator through here), so BOTH wires are attached to the positive side of the starter, and the starter grounds itself through its case and where it bolts to the car. If I remember right, youll see a ground strap on one of the two connections on the starter, this grounds the terminal to the case of the starter, the other should be open and is where your wires should go. Luckily for me, the wires were arranged in such a way that neither would really make it to the ground terminal or were extremely akward.

thanks for the clarification. I was so confused with 3 wires hanging around to go with the fact I was so tired from dealing with the clutch job. You just saved me my sanity.
I had picked up a LUK set only to find it wasn't made right (the clutch disk splines weren't cut all the way to spec so they had a lip on them), so I spent a day or two thinking it was just me and then had the idea to tear it back down to check if they all fit right. I was notably upset after this only to have the starter confusion add to the mess.
thanks again seriously. I'd even mail you a good beer if my assumption that you're in not in CA. No joking either.
