Default AEB Turbo

I had my radiator flushed and the oil changed and then not to long ago my turbo gave out....My check engine light is on but I have 151K on my Quattro....Do you think that by having my fluids changed it could of made my turbo just give out because it is an older car?

I highly doubt it, unless you used the wrong oil or coolant which caused a buildup in the lines going to/from the turbo new fluids should not have any effect on it.

My car is also a 98 aeb with stock turbo, 193k miles 143k which have been chipped at 15psi. So if you or the previous owner(s) ever used cheap or conventional oil then yes to may have a sludge buildup which made your turbo die, but normally an oil change is good for any engine....

how do you know the turbo is out? is a turbo goes bad, it doesnt trigger a light unless there is another condition present.

The Turbo is electronic so when you mash the gas so far it will kick on....I do think that it has been the build up of carbon in it because it was a Craigslist find and the paperwork shows it was a donated car then went from auto dealer to auto auction and so forth. When I get paid I am going to get a new Turbo....I will start to get the CV Drive Axles for the front. I would be able to do more if I had more cash...that which will not happen until Aug.

Definitely not how a turbo works, a turbo is mechanical. When you mash the gas the exhaust gases spin a turbine which in the simpliest terms turns a rod that's attached to another turbine that compresses the air which is why turbo cars have lag. If your turbo is truly out you can just rebuild it for a fraction of the cost of a new one and just replace all the coolant and oil lines attached to it

So Congrats on that....I do however know that is how a turbo works....it however is also has an electronic aspect of it as well. But, I am not going to get into it on this place.....So yeah I am going to replace the lines and the turbo.

Congrats on what? And no, the turbo is not electronic atleast in the terms you are thinking. Basically the more you press the gas, the more exhaust gasses come out, the more the turbine spin, the more boost. No electronics involved in making boost
