Aftermarket Head unit install problems
If that is the case then the head unit's RCA are defective. Get a new head unit under warranty or get a high level to low level line converter to hook up to your rear speaker output then to your Metra rear RCAs. Not the best for sound quality but hey, you're not sitting in the back seat.

Oh ya I just had a thought too. The head unit might be sophisticated enough that if it detects power output to the the front speaker wires, it may automatically switch off the low level RCAs to the front. What you could try is disconnecting the the OEM factory harness to the front speakers from the Metra wiring harness and see if this triggers the front RCA's to work. Just a thought.

i too thought of this, haven't tested it.
if i understood what u meant;
un-wire front speakers, and just use front RCAs in rear RCA outputs on head unit, correct?
i thank you for your patience, ive been working all day, all week so i have little time to do this, and right now im trying to spend little to no money and most places are usually closed by the time i leave work. im glad i didnt cave and bring it to MACH 1 auto cuz i kno my wiring is correct, it comes down to Lemon or software.
do you know if there is a down side to using a converter like u had suggested?(minus the fact id be keeping a lemon)
or,
is there a possibility some systems/setups may electronically prefer to use the converter? just curious.(besides not having RCA output factory option, of coarse)

Ok so all 4 work. Front are much more dominate..(louder)
Idk how or why they work, I had rear RCAs plugged into rear RCA out puts, un wired front speakers and the rears worked, when I wired the fronts back up the rears wouldn't... But then I wired front again and it all works with the only problem front are much louder for now I just
faded them to the back...a lot.

Holy Hanna that took alot of testing. I'm glad it works. It's not like Pioneer to send out a lemon without testing everything first. Well at least the Pioneer (Premier) that I remember back in the day of big stereos for me.
As far as loudness it looks like you can adjust the output level of the rear RCA via the subwoofer control on step 5 from these instructions. Try that out and see how it goes. Good luck.

Now if you were to rewire the Metra and OEM harness and the speaker harness in the rear, you could potentially rewire everything so that you aren't using the RCA's from the deck at all and bypass the OEM amp altogether. By switching the pins in the harness you could hook up your rears to the powered rear channels of the head unit and this should give you a balance between front and rear. In addition to that, once you add a powered subwoofer, your rear channel on the deck is free to be used to signal that setup.
Doug
True. But if I wanted to do all of that work, this thing woulda been done a week ago! =P
However, its funny you say that, is there anyways to still plug in subs/amp with my current setup(OEM amp) plugged in? Of coarse I'd want it to be of good quality sound.
