Aftermarket Radio Help
I'm looking into changing my radio in the future but I want it to look good. I've tried searching but haven't got a clear answer. Is there a double din kit for a 2000 a4 with Bose system? Can you use the one already in the car? I've seen some nice pictures of aftermarket stereo when searching google so it must be possible somehow. I'm not sure if Audi is one of those makers who's double din slot is just a lite to small/big.
I've got a 2001.5, which has the extra large stereo. I'm not sure how big yours is, but I'll post some pics of mine later today. I went to the local audio shop and had them do it, though I'm sure if I really wanted to I could have done the same job. They made it look very professional, almost factory. I put in a ~4" touch screen display.
The biggest disappointment I have with my display is that the "red" colour actually comes out more pinkish, so I'm forced to use blue in the display. Kind of clashes with the rest of the car which is red.

Very nice. I think it not sitting flush would bother me A LOT though.
I think I may just get some type of Bluetooth adapter so I'm able to play my iphone over the stereo. Maybe make calls, but the songs are more important. Just have to find something. Any suggestions?
And yes I have the cassette player with the 3.5mm wire that you plug into the phone but the quality sucks. I would perfer bt.

Like I said in my previous post after some thought I think I'm leaning towards some type of Bluetooth kit type thing. Just not sure what to get.
AFAIK the only double din kit is made by Metra, and as you can see by pictures it doesn't even come close to matching the rest of the dash in texture, colour, and shape. And like the rest of Metra dash kits is made out of the flimsiest most brittle plastic I've ever worked with.
If you want to keep the stock head unit your best choice is one of these: Compare GROM Car Audio Integration Kits A bit pricy but the features make up for it.

The other feature i love with my Pioneer AVH-DVDP4300 is i can change the color of the buttons. I obviously changed the buttons red and even the background of my Pioneer 7" screen red. I'm going to get new rear speakers but in for the spring/summer time.
