They aren't that bad. It's way better than the cassette player. Not as good as bt though.

Go to your local audio store. They are experts on this stuff, and will be able to tell you exactly which stereos will fit and which ones wont. I bought all of the things necessary for that stereo at Visions Electronics in Canada. The service guy I talked with was incredibly knowledgeable about what works and what doesn't in this car.

I honestly don't know if all double dins would fit, but I would imagine so. As for the dash kit, I just purchased the stereo, and the surrounding plastic filler separately.

If you order from crutchfield.com it tells you what fits and what doesn't, they also give you all the wiring adapters, instructions and dash kit for free (that's where I got mine)

I'm don't really want to trust what they say because they have been known to be wrong before. I will look to see what they say fits though.

Now is this the kit you all have used? Metra 99-9105 In-dash Receiver Kit Fits select 2000-01 Audi A4 models — single-DIN or double-DIN radios at Crutchfield.com

I also like this radio the best so far. Big fan of Kenwood, have a single din in my other car and love it. It has what I want and is about what I'm willing to spend. I'm sure I could find it cheaper but crutchfield gives you all the installation stuff you need for free so it equals out.

Crutchfield must have seen that I wanted that stereo, went back to the site today and it's discontinued. They just wanted me to pay for the $350 one.
