Hey guys,

I have a 1998 A4 1.8T and Im looking to put in an air filter (not a full intake). I know they sell like K&N filters at the stores around here, but I'm not sure what size piping the A4 comes with stock. What size should I be looking for?

Also, I want to change the stock blow-off valve that the turbo uses for one of those aftermarket ones. Where can I order one that will be compatible to my car? Thanks a lot for the help. I don't know much but my friends can help me install the parts. Im not a huge car buff..

 

All you need is a 2.75" piping and filter. As for a dv, just go to ecstuning.com under intakes for a nice list of dv's, all high quality peices

 

can you elaborate on DV? Im tellin ya, im really a newb...

Also, is there a 'DIY blow-off valve install guide somewhere on the web? Im having trouble locating it but i THINK i did..

 

if you get a k&n anything...........make sure to let the oil dry..... sit it out for the night or wipe it down......... and unless you are just looknig for that psh sound, just buy a drop in filter


i had a cone filter it does nothing but make the dv louder and maybe a little and i mean little bit more responsive throttle over my drop in filter

 

What is the noise you want the blow-off valve to make?

 

feerocknok.. im looking for that "vrrrrrrrrr tsss" noise, but nothing over-the-top. Just a magnified stock sound basically.. but a nice one. Idk what the standard is but im hoping you know. How hard is it to install.

as for the intake, Ill take heed to what you guys said. I just want a filter tip basically, hopefully open cone.

 

The intake mod (more so with a cone filter and heatshield)will go "(engine) brooooooom- (let off throttle) foo".
I like people to type the other noise so I can laugh for an hour. Search "Psh sound" on this board and you'll see the humour.

just skim the classifieds here and audizine. forge, baileys, apr are all good dv's. if you want a louder sound get a bov thats closed at idle like the forge 004, or hks ssqv. ssqv is annoying tho
