cant you just unhook the battery for 30 mins or so to reset check engine light &..... airbag light?

(If you try that, have your radio reset code ready)

No you can't - battery disconnect will not clear an airbag light. You have to physically (via Vag) tell the computer that the airbag fault has been corrected.

Yap, that's the other issue Iam having, after disconnecting the battery connector the radio when into "SAFE" mode. This issue here is that I purchased the car used andthe sellersremoved the radio code card. Only discovered that now. I called the dealership and it would cost $110 just to retrive the radio code. Not sure if there is another way to get the radio code. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Default airbag ligh staying on

hi, i have the same problem, the light was coming and going for a while, then is stayed on, i cleared it one day with the launch x...diagnostic thing, but it came back few weeks later and now i cant clear is,, i took up the seat someone told me to bypass the yellow connector so i did soldered the 2 wires black to black and blue to blue , tried clearing it then but still would not, so do i have to get a new connector, why, its just a connector? or something else? would appreciate any help regards , j

Sounds like it is your Airbag Control Module. Same exact thing with mine. My airbag light was coming on intermittently, but I could clear it using a VagCom. Then it came on and would not clear. I checked the wiring harness and everything was good. Had the mechanic do some diagnostics on it and it is the Airbag Control Module. Haven't replaced it yet, but I guess they cost ~$800 new, grrrr.

Make sure you don't have another bad connection on a different bag somewhere. That'll keep the light on no matter what you do to the first one.
