Default Alarm issue with code 16200/16232

I have an A4/2.8/Quattro/1999 and have programmed my central locking system/alarm with code 16200 and then 16232. After a while, I encountered the following 2 symptoms:

  1. Alarm goes on/off for no reason every 10 mins after I lock the car
  2. Horn + Lights stopped sounding when arming

All other features work well, including flashing lights when disarming...any clues as to how I can:
  • correct issue 1 + 2 above
  • disable internal monitoring sensor - In the meantime I found a button in between the front & rear door on driver's side that apparently disables the motion sensor alarm

Thx

So you CODED it with those numbers? You should scan for DTC's and see what it says. Sounds like a bad door switch to me.

Yes, I also thought so for the alarm going on & off...I will have to clear the codes and check to see which one goes off, because it takes about 10 mins before it goes off for the first time...then on & off every 10 mins

Still can't figure out why the horn & lights don't activate once when arming, but the lights do flash 2x when disarming...

As far as I know, if a DOOR switch is open the alarm wont arm all together (you wont see the door LEDs flashing, AND you wont hear the horn honk), but if a hood switch or trunk switch is open the LEDs will flash (meaning the alarm will partially arm), but you will not hear the lock honk by the horn.
