Default Audi A4 1.8 running sick (help)

Hi I have a 1999 1.8 20v A4 (apt eng:code). Have had a new Lambda sensor fitted to pass mot and have checked the air mass flow meter and it seems to be working ok. Problem i have had since owning the car is one minute it runs with all its horse power the next it runs like half of the horse power and it runs very smoothly. Can anyone please point me in the right direction cause it doin my head in. Dont want to pay those rip off audi dealers just to stick it on plug in detector, although i might have to.Its an intermittent problem so could it possibly a sensor to the ecu or something kie that. Cheers Andy.

How do you know its running with half horsepower? Did you dyno it? Or are you speaking figuratively? You need to post more info if anyone is gonna be able to help you out.

sorry that is just a figure of speech. but it's exactly as i described it. One minute it seems to have the right power and the next which is more often than not to have lack of power. Does pink a bit when hot. But my temp rarely gets up to 90 these days especially when when heater is on it drops to 60.

you're not talking about turbo lag are you? it's pretty much nonexistant with the K03 (I'm assuming you're still running stock turbo), but there's a relatively dramatic increase in power when the turbo spools up.

what is the lambda sensor?

like brrman said, you're going to have to be a bit more specific about this. when does it feel like it's losing power? is it at a certain rev? time of the day? after it's been running for a while? is there anything else that you've noticed is different when it loses power? how long do you lose this power for? if you lose power, shut your car off, and turn it back on does it resume full power again? have you done anything to trouble shoot this yet?

you're probably going to have to scan your car man. post something up in the regionals asking if someone in your area has a vag-com you can use. that may be your best bet.
