Hi, I have a 1996 a4 12v. In the morning when I'm on the way to school, whenever I go above 2k rpms, there is a weird whining noise that comes from the engine bay... This noise goes away when the car warms up but it is annoying none the less. Any ideas of what this could be? I am up to date on all the maintenance on the car. It has 145k miles and it is a manual trans.

There's no point in asking people to guess. You'll need to open the hood and try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Will it do this in neutral while stopped? If you remove the accessory belt, do you still hear the noise? If so, that could be a bad sign.
