Default Audi A4 1997

My V6 2.6 A4 Audi has recently stopped running.
It moves very little back and front when you push the pedal ,
My question was will a transmission oil and filter change fix this problem or will this require a new transmission?

So when you say it's stopped running, you mean the motor runs but you can't drive the car? I assume it's an automatic?

Yes it starts up and runs fine, but requires high rpms to move about which is usually just back and forth in the drive way
Yes it is automatic

Sounds like a slipping torque converter.

Or maybe the pump just isn't putting out the much pressure. I don't think anyone here's going to give you and answer you can bank on. And whether its a bad T-converter or a bad pump, the solution is pulling the trans. Hard to see a filter and new fluid fixing it all.

I'd still start with checking the fluid level. By the way, don't let the engine of an automatic trans car rev up while in gear, because if it decides to engage, someone or something could get hurt.
