Audi A4 clunk noise

I thInk so too. Mine did that & it turned out to be a motor mount.
The shifting motor also shifted the spigot mount housing, so that could be a easy way to check.
The coolant overflow resiviour needs the 3 screws taken out & some wood under the engine & a jack under that, remove the 3 bolts on the spigot mount & remove the two nuts under the motor mounts & jack the engine up.
You can shift the engine up quite a bit considering.
The broken mount will be all loose and easy to remove. Id replace both mounts at the same time, that gives you a spare one.
The bolts seem a bit too long, could probably be shorter to make it easier to fit in. But they will anyway.
The rubber boot needs either glueing onto the mount, or marker pen corresponding lines to match the boot position to the mount.
Theres seems to be ' Left & Right' mounts, but no real obvious ( to me anyway) difference.
But i only replaced one mount.
The mounts in the photos i have seen have red or blue paint mark on the bolts. Best to replace both anyway. Prices vary a lot for these.
