That being said, if you have an interest in doing your own repairs and maintenance, and you enjoy taking care of you baby, then it's the perfect car for you.
My B5 has 125K miles on it. About a year ago, I decided to start doing my own repairs and maintenance. In that time, I have replaced the plugs, plug wires, valve cover gaskets, cam chain tensioner gaskets, upper radiator hose, coolant reservoir tank, wiper transmission, vacuum hoses, crankcase vent breather system, air filter, in-cabin air filter, fuel filter and main air locking pump.
I've also flushed the coolant, drained and refilled the auto transmission fluid & filter, installed new rotors and brake pads on the front and back, replaced one of the brake caliper carriers and replaced the entire set of front control arms and tie rod ends!
Other than that, all I've done is change the oil regularly.

In short, owning an old Audi is like owning a house. There's always something that needs replacing or fixing.
