Audi Starter Problem
So in february my starter died on my 96 2.8 quattro.
I had a shop install a new starter. After installing the new starter i found that every cold morning the car would start VERY badly. (sounds like the starter was not engaging- see vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0Q6sVnBtW0
If i tried starting it a couple more times, i could usually get the car started.
After about 2 weeks of that i took the car back to the mechanic, and another starter was installed. Since this install, its been fairly warm. Ive had no problems starting it.
EXCEPT, this morning it was abnormally cold, and it did the same thing. The starter sounded like it tried to half engage. THe car didn't start. I had to try to turn the key a second time.
It's like the solenoid isn't coming out far enough to engage the flywheel properly.
What would you guys recommend?
