so how hard is it to switch an auto to a manual? I love my car and I don't want to sell it just to get a manual. The motor is in awesome shape and it's such a well maintained car. It's a 1.8t quattro btw.

An automatic to a manual isn't as hard as doing the oposite. You will have to program your ECU to ignore the TCM so you won't get any fault lights and what not. Other than that it should be pretty easy. The hardest part would be getting brake fluid to the clutch slave cylinder, you might have to do some modifying or changing the master cylinder to one that has a manual trans. Im not 100% sure on this or not, but i think the crankshaft is different on the automatic models than it is on the manual models. Meaning you might not be able to bolt up a manual unless you change out the crankshaft. If thats the case it would be cheaper to just buy another car. A person that would know the answer to that question is mike, or mike2ptzero, PM him and ask. Someone else might chime in that knows as well.
