2nd Gear
It's the same as for the sedans, so it may be beneficial for you to retitle the thread with something like 6 speed transmission swap.
Not the easiest thing to do. What are you hoping to gain from it?

Just a hypothetical question to promote technical discussion =)
the 01Es have the same gear rations inside the 5 and 6 speed model, the top gear is still . 73.
You can have 1st gear hardened and widened, then throw in the 6th gear from a 6speed TDI model which has a gear ration of .56
That resolves the nasty 1st to 2nd gear problem that a lot of 2.7T owners have experienced...and then your 6th gear actually becomes a "gas saving gear" of sort.
I asked also because the B6 line of A4s had a 6speed manual transmission, but apparently it was not an option for the B5 A4s.
PS: Nice Avant

Thank you, I registered on the Avant forum before I went to work this morning, so I'll see you there sometime!
