Default b5 Burns oil?

Basically My car goes through oil really fast. I have gone through a quart in the last month alone.

When I am stopped for a long time, I can start to smell burning oil coming from the engine (maybe through the A/C?). If i perform poorly with the clutch, i can smell it too. (I'm sort of new with a 5 speed so I do that every now and then).

Also, this might hint at a different problem. When I go over bumps and/or turn the steering wheel, the front right wheel squeaks. I was showing this problem to my dad, and pulled into my driveway and vigorously turned the wheel left and right. Within 15 seconds my engine was smoking. I turned the car off and popped the hood, and it smelled a lot like burning oil.

So what's going on here? I thought at first that the car was just leaking oil, but the steering incident is leading me to think otherwise.

Hmmm. Sounds to me like you've got a few different things goin on here, rather than one problem causing all those symptoms. Any oil on your spark plugs? Blue smoke from the tail pipes? That sounds like a lot of oil to be losing, so its gotta be going someplace.

Squeaky wheel could be a control arm or wheel bearing. Wheel bearings obviously only squeak/hum when you're moving, control arms when the suspension moves. A good way to tell is to jack up the squeaky corner, grab the wheel at 12 and 6, then 3 and 9 and wiggle that sumbitch. See if you can tell whats squeaking. From your description, I'm thinking upper control arm.

The steering thing sounds like a leak. Does your power steering pump whine when you turn the wheel? Hows the level in the power steering fluid reservoir? Could you tell exactly where the smoke was coming from?

Ill check my spark plugs later today. There is no weird colored smoke coming from the exhaust at all (that I have noticed).

I was already thinking that it would be a control arm issue. Like i said it squeaks over bumps, as in, its not squeaking because the car is moving. I would think that would explain the steering noise as well. But maybe not. The steering pump might whine when I turn the wheel, I'll have to check that out later as well. I havent checked the fluid reservoir either.

The smoke looked like it was coming from the right side of the engine, around here (see attachment). It was between the engine block and whatever is next to it, not the oil cap which appears to be circled.

ok yeah, first thing i would do is check the fluid reservoir, see if the P/S pump whines a lot when you turn the wheel, and check for leaks in that area. The reservoir is just to the right of where you circled and there's a lot of lines in that area. You could be leaking P/S fluid onto the header on that side, makin the smoke.

When i steer the wheel, the pump seems to hiss a bit, like air is coming out maybe? it squeaks like i said before, obviously, and its loud enough so that its hard to tell whats going on

A hiss is normal at lock. A squeak when the turning the wheel is most likely the control arms, even if you arent moving. Power steering related is usually more of a scream or chirp I would say. Look at the seams of your engine and see if oil is seeping through them (if so, its likely your valve cover gasket, and my bet if you have smoke that smells like oil coming from your engine bay, although it looks like you have a V6 and this is more common the 4 cylinder).
