2.8 40k burns 2 qts of oil between changes
This is my second oil change since i purchase the car. Firts time the oil warning light came on and i was just a few miles overdue on the oil change. it took 2 qts to top off. Blamed Jiffy Lube's 15 year old kid who did the oil change, since their computer called for 4 qts and the car takes i think 5 3/4 qts. i talked about this to the techs there they advised that they could not find any leaks anywhere looking under the car. Drove of happy thinking it had been a mistake.
Now i am really worried cause i am 1300 from the next oil change and it took 2 qts to top off....The Jiffy Lube guys topped off from free but the problem reamins...no leaks...no noticeable smoke from the exhaust..
Am i using the wrong kind of oil? i have been using synthetic blend 10w30
i cant think of why my engine is burning so much oil
i left a VM with the dealer i bouth the car from and have not heard back..I want to hear from you guys and learn as much as i can before i confronting the dealer.
thanks

same prob here buddy mines got 49k and i bought it with 36k, always had that prob., burns about 1/2 a qt. every 1000 miles or so...dunno seems like alot of people have this prob. maybe its normal for this engine?
I'd say check for an oil leak somewhere. Mine goes through about 1/3 of a quart between oil changes (4-5k) but I know its because of a valve cover leak. It is normal to lose oil between changes, the stuff evaporates and deteriates.
