Type R for $250? That's not good.

 

Depending on where he got them, exactly what model number he got, and how long ago he purchased them, $250 would be spot on.

 

I have no idea what Type R components normally cost. My point was that Type R isn't worth that much because it's not that good.

 

My Type R 12" sub cost 250.

 

call bose auto division man they will replace speakers for 10+year old audis for $40 shipped. it came in less than a week

For $80 I replaced both the fronts and the difference is amazing.

you have to leave a message at BOSE and they call you back the next day.

 

wow......apparently many, many people stand behind them as very good. I for one do not favor them either, but all this comes down to is taste. I have found that people stick to what they like and what works. If he likes the sound, so be it.

 

Same price as my Fi Q12, which beats the crap out of Type R in every respect.

 

I see that you need one hell of an enclosure to support that speaker as well. How big is your enclosure???

Type-R's require much less space as I have read...

 

Had it in .7cuft sealed. They do not require big boxes sealed. Of course, ported is better, but the car I had it in (which I got rid of) didn't have room for a ported box.

 

Damn, i may have to look into that. I kinda want to upgrade though, so I'll be stopping into a few stores and talking to some reps. I snagged some money this christmas for the whip. SchhhaaaaWING!
