Do the 5 speed transmission off a B6 fit our car? If so is it a direct fit?

 

I'd like to know if there's a direct fit 6 speed.

The B6 5 speed fitment will probably depend on the B5 year.

 

The 2002 B6 5-speed trans might fit, but I'm not sure about the transmission bracket situation (B6 mounts the trans differently to the subframe). Otherwise it should bolt up to the B5.

After 2002 Audi switched to using ABS wheel speed sensors for the VSS, and the B5 doesn't really have a provision for this because it expects to see a VSS signal from the transmission-mounted sensor and tone ring. 2002 B6 still uses the same VSS signal as a B5.

There is no bolt-up 6-speed transmission for the B5 A4. 6-speed transmissions will use a different rear differential, and possibly a different axle output cup size (depending on which A4 it's going on). Also I believe the center driveshafts have a different length.

Should also point out that 6-speeds use entirely different shifter and shift linkages. Basically, converting a 5-speed to 6-speed would be almost the same as converting automatic to 6-speed, at least from a parts requirement perspective.
