Oil temperature sensor?
Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T > Engine > Electrical > ES#4833 Oil Temperature Sender - 049919563B
Not sure where it's located. If you have VAG-COM it might provide a code to tell you if this is the issue or if it's something else.

No joke, my B5 is almost as needy as my girlfriend. That's REALLY NEEDY.

Back on topic, do you have any idiot lights or symptoms to help us troubleshoot, or just the oil temp gauge not working?

Ms Seems likes we all have the same thing...needy gf's and cars...only thing I have seen is the tempature gauge not reading. Haven't checked the sensor because my chk engine light is always on.
