minor update:
A new ko3 was found last night at 1130pm dropped of at around 130am and installed. engine was already in so it was just plugging stuff in and getting the turbo connected. everything will be buttoned up and also doing 5k hid depos.
should be ready tonight or tomorrow.

 

Got the call earlier today that car was all done and ready to go, get in the car and getting onto the highway, when i receive another call. They took the car out to make sure everything worked no leaking no nothing, and...... The car got side swiped by a freaking lifted 4runner and some stoner kid. Im just getting on the highway get the cross streets and make my way there about a 45 min drive. Get there find the car and police, finishing up a report. Get in the car get it back to the garage and look at damage. Luckily it was only tire and not more but i started at the rear bumper worked up the rear door and my friend managed to pull away before it got more. So bumper has so scuffing and rear driver door is creased inwards, opens closes works fine, but i gotta call insurance tomorrow and get that worked out kid said he was at fault and wasnt paying attention. (he was in a turn left lane and my car was in a straight lane *right next to each other* light turns green both go forward, and kid just turns in my cars lane rubbing tire on it.) So will need new door for sure and paint to be perfectly blended. Drove it home and must say i love boost (my turbo before was completely died and hadnt been boosting for the past 3yrs i owned it had nothing to compare to so i didnt know...) also love hids got ecodes and 55w 5k.

Also when motor was being put in they noticed a flange had popped out of the transmission and all the fluid had drained so the true cause of car not moving was a burned out differential. so i had to swap in a new trans.

Question: New transmission has a whine in first gear every time you go into it... no other gear does this what could this be...?

how easily (or is it possible) to swap my first from my original transmission into the new one to stop this whine since mine was fine...?

cars been running well apart from the weird whine in first but we'll get it figured out.

couple pics from the last couple days: I know that not every one will like the cars but we all enjoy them.

Side note the blue rs is the fastest car in the group 550hp and runs consistent 11.1 on E85 should break into the 10s pretty soon

Car is currently getting magnaflow 14815 put on as well as a vibrant res, cant wait to go pick it up...

 

Picked up the car at 5pm and i must say it sounds so much better, got my vibrant res and magnaflow put on it was about 200 bucks but i made sure they tucked it up as well as it could be as well as making sure it was secured with good hangers. also didnt want the tips to stick way out so i lined them up flush to where the bumper valance meets the shell looks awesome, sounds awesome and i am completely happy.
So if any one wants more sound out of the 1.8t and doesnt want to delete the res and have highway drone i highly recommend this:

Driving back to school tomorrow and thats 45min of highway ill see how it goes, but from driving around and just cruising i didnt notice anything except when giving it gas...

yours is melange since its a facelift bamboo was 97 only. melange replaced bamboo in 98 and thats the color that goes up to the 2001s
and i plan on lower once i can get my fronts rolled
