Default BatWagon took a dump

Here's the carnage of running a bad tune with a badass setup. Just a reminder to always be patient when doing a build.

Like I said on FB, I've never seen a piston split in half like that. Wild...

Saw you put it in storage, what's the plan? I assume you'll not be using another CTapp tune...? 034 standalone?

that is pretty terrible. i havent seen many broken vag blocks, but that is by far the worst. do you know what caused it?

I actually rented a garage where i can work on it. Its not much, but its enough. You are correct about an SEM, either 034 IIc or a Motec unit. Can't wait to ditch the HUGE maf and all the other b.s. along with it.

Yes, it has a smaller hole on the driver side as well but it was hard to get a good pic. I was as happy as could be when I lifted that head off and there was no damage to the top end.
As for the cause, I was trying desperately for the past few months to get the tune squared away, but the truth of the matter is that an 058 computer just cant run a setup like mine, plain and simple. It appears that the injector on cylinder 2 loaded up and dumped fuel, causing the cylinder to hydrolock and snapped a FORGED rod lol.

Damnnn. That **** got destroyed! Poor piston got his tip chopped off his shaft. Poor block got penetrated. Complete rape.

perhaps 06a block and wideband conversion are in your future? ive heard the swap is tough but worth it in the end. makes me glad i got an 01 and i had no idea when i bought mine. i can tell you maestro for me7 is pretty ****, and theres a lot of support out there

Yes, I agree that the computers in the 06a cars are way ******* better. But I'm not going to spend all that time designing and swapping harnesses just for a stock audi computer from a newer year. Truth is it would take longer to wire my car up for the wideband 06a ecu than it would to wire up a standalone. 034 even sells a wiring harness for you to run their IIc unit, I'm not sure its worth $750 but some people are that lazy or lack know-how. Maestro does rock for the newer VAG cars. If I could go back in time I would have 100% gone for an 01 A4 and then just swapped in an aeb head just like mine

Couldn't believe those pics the other day. I'm glad the damage was kept all at the lower end of the engine. Looking forward to its resurrection
