Hey guys here's an update for the last thread I posted a few months ago. I posted a thread because I kept bending my intake valve on bank 2 cylinder number 2. I kept bending the center intake valve. It bent 3 times and the problem kept occurring which led me to buy head bolts and gaskets too many times. So I got some insight from a few good people here on audizine. I took the advice but the car never improved. It seems one thing was missed and it was the replacement of the oil pump. Reason being is what I believe. The oil wasn't being distributed to all the lifters and because they're hydraulic there wasnt enough pressure to work the valves or maybe there was a delay which pushed the valve at the wrong time. The timing was correct and it seems that since we replaced the oil pump and ran it to charge them it's all back to normal. I struggled so much to find this problem so in the process I replaced the the crank bearings, piston rings, oil pump, rod bearings, lifters, valves, had the heads surfaced all new stem seals. But since then the cars been running so good! They say the oil pump never goes out in a 2.8 v6 but consider that the oil pump serves a lot for the engine. I have AHA engine where the oil pump bolts to the front of the engine. Leave any comments or feedback about what you think.

I remember the post, and I'm glad you got it. I understand the theory but here's the one thing I don't get. When I go to my car in the morning and turn the key, the cam adjusters always rattle for a couple seconds till they get oil pressure. So if a lack of oil pressure up top can bend a valve, wouldn't it happen routinely when 2.8's have sat for a few days?

That what's my cam chain tensioners we're doing too they started to rattle real bad and that might've been why it could've bent the valve because it was retarding the timing. We saw this when we took the valve cover off and cranked the car. The tensioner would move up and down like it lost pressure and gained it repeatedly. So I would assume that its just how well your output pressure from the oil pump is. But one thing you might want to check is your chain tensioner filter. It could be clogging up with gunk. There's so a handful of things that can factor up to why your car starts up like that. My cars been running great but at first start up its a little shakey but after warm up and a little bit of driving it catches up and runs perfect. I don't want to have anyone start tearing up their cars because of something like a rattling tensioner. Do some research and check out the forums before you do anything because symptoms may be different.
