Damn it. I was hoping they would have options. Starter kit @ 270hp, and buy following upgrades to get up to 400hp.

I think that's the idea behind it - smart marketing days you advertise an excellent number. Personally, I'd rather use a K03/K04 at 5-6psi and gain 50 or so hp and call it a day. Snappy, fun, cheap setup there. Great for a DD.

Too many guys forget that it's not all about huge numbers. If you want big power, start with the right platform.

I agree with thedevil, but theres this crazy thing about power. once you increase it a little, after a while you just want more. and more. and more. and more...

Lol I was doing that while most of this forum was still playing with Barbie dolls. I started with a platform well-suited to making a lot of power. Just like booze, the first step is admitting you have a power fetish. Knowing that, you can research and buy the proper starting point for a car, or barring that, you can realize it, find out the power-to-dollar ratio sucks with whatever car you bought instead of the right one, sell it, and buy the right one. If more people did that we wouldn't have so many "who sells a $400 superturbonitrocharger bolt-on kit for my 15-year-old 12v that I can install in 30 minutes and use to take down a Koenigsegg CCXR?" threads around here.

As awesome as a single turbo 2.8 could be, I think unless I have a bunch of time and money I'd rather just find a Stage 3 S4 for 12-13k. Like you said, start with the right platform.

For now I'm happy with my 2.8.. It's quick enough to merge on a highway and that's all that matters. Plus it looks beautiful for a 13 year old car.

Yeah, well I bought my car mainly for the power seats and the chrome trim around the window lol. I had no intentions in making it fast. I would have just gone with the 1.8t but I would prefer to spend money on horsepower than spending money on power seats(I just think its so convenient!).

Also S4 are more on insurance.

well sort of, but not really. s4's are 81mm bore, a4 2.8s are 82.5 (i think, but nonetheless larger). the block is the same as i said, just larger bore. thats really where the simialrites end. youd be better off swapping in a whole 2.7 motor. plus, as staed, the 034 turbo kit would need many s4 pars, like the intake manfold
